Just caught an advert. Deal or No Deal is back. Nov 20th at 4pm on STV/ITV1/ITVX, I assume UTV as well for those in NI.

Looks like it's replacing Tipping Point. I did watch DOND regularly back in the day, keen to find out if it'll be just as addictive.

I suspect not, though, as it's Stephen Mulhern hosting. Man, that guy is irritating as hell.

Any show where I can laugh at someone else's loss is always a gain to me. What can I say, others people misery apparently brings me joy. Bring back Jeremy Kyle while we are at it.

I still think the golden balls premise was the best but I'd always 'steal'. No point in sharing.

I'm no regular to the show but understand the ending enough to appreciate a particular one where one of the contestants straight up said "I'm going to steal, 100%, and then I'll share the money with you. The only way you can see any of the money is if you split and trust me. If you steal we'll both get nothing, as I am definitely going to." then he ended up splitting. Love that mind game.

Stephen Mulhern…….oh Lord no. Watching him on Catchphrase would give you the trots.

I'll think you'll find Catchphrase is litty.

Also, deal or no deal, pls no.

I liked watching the original run with Noel Edmunds. There were also pub fruit machines where you get to play /Deal/ against the computer for box values between 1p and the jackpot. I also had at least 1 interactive DVD, maybe even 2 DVDs where you could play /Deal/ against the DVD's script.

Any idea what the new presenter is like and what his style will be?

Okies I've watched it a couple of times now.

The new presenter (I keep forgetting his name) isn't Noel but I think he's ok. Some of the contestants are long-time fans of Deal and I like that the new presenter respects the fact that Deal had existed in a previous form and didn't just brush it off. The musical cues are probably more polished but essentially the same as before. It's quite moody music and as a 40-something, I'm more aware of the dynamics of this than I was 15 years ago. The jokes vary from being 'ok' to being cringe-worthy :D There are more ad breaks though as I remember there used to be 2 breaks in the hour-long show but it's now 3 ad breaks.

Good TV to veg out to if I'm not doing anything else.

This season is only 20 episodes so I'm wondering if it's a pilot to see how well it does. What's the best way to get TV viewing figures?
