i used to get it when i was younger (5-6ish) but havent had it since.
first noticed it with the vive on ghost town mine ride and today i tried doom 3 bfg with the vr mod, i dont get it in games where you teleport just in ones where you move in game but not real life.
any tips on how to deal with it or can i get anything to reduce the "effects"

Have a bucket within easy reach... :D

But seriously, just keep at it for progressively longer stints. You'll eventually adapt. Don't try to push through it though, or you'll feel ill for hours.

It will be good when developers start building more standard things to deal with this into their games.

Onwards is a classic example where they appear to be just outright ignoring it because quite a few people can cope with it.

However, in my eyes the only reason it's working for them is because they've targeted a genre of game with mass appeal. They can afford to loose half the people with Vives due to motion sickness because they still have a larger number of players than any other game.

If you create a game with less appeal, loosing 50% or upward of your playerbase because of your implementation of motion controls isn't an option.

If you download Google Earth VR they've implemented a solution that had been tried many moons again in the Oculus DK2 days - reducing the field of view when you move with the controller.

If you got to the options menu on the desktop for the Google Earth screen you'll see you can turn "comfort mode" off - and instantly you'll notice all the same effects you're having with Doom. With comfort mode on however you'll likely find it very usable.

Anyway, ultimately that's a solution you'll need to wait for the developers to adopt. Fixing it yourself all just comes down to time. If you're already prone to motion sickness make sure you take it easy. Short stints.

Beer, dunno if it works for VR but i noticed i dont get motion sickness after a few beers, i only ever get it if im trying to read while in a moving vehicle boat/car/train but after a few beers it goes away, saying that most of lifes problems go away after a few beers :)

Haha any excuse for a few beers

Try playing racing/space games where you can sit inside the vehicle and have a static frame of reference for your peripheral vision.

You percieve motion thorugh a combination of the inner ear and your peripheral vision. By having some queues for your peripheral vision, it should reduce motion sickness.

I noticed this a lot with Adrift, you are just floating around and so didnt last long in the game where as Elite Dangerous I was fine.

I've heard people say that it helps if you walk on the spot whilst moving. No idea if this helps motion sickness, but it would at least add to your cardio training....
