Anyone got any good advice?

Ive noticed since I got my new computer that a lot of my games have huge amounts of screen tearing- Stalker CoP, Crysis, Dirt 2, and Metro most specifically.

Now I have V-sync turned on in all cases where it can be turned on, but it really doesnt seem to help. In Stalker it is so bad I dont really want to play the game until I can fix it.

I noticed there is a triple-buffering option in the catalyst drivers, will this help a lot?

Is there a good settings balance that helps with screen-tear? What I mean by this is that will screen tear happen a lot more if the settings are "too high"?

It seems strange that some games have no issue at all (Just Cause 2, Dragon Age) and some are horrendous.

Cheers for any info.

have u forced v-sync on in the CCC?

**EDIT**Excuse my laziness, i didn't read the post fully.

I find that tearing becomes less noticeable if you have higher fps, try running fraps to see what frames rates your getting. (if its constantly at 60 then you know v-sync is doing its job).

Forcing V Sync in ATI CCC doesn't always work, and some games override this..

Search for riva tuner (latest version) and install. Once installed, start menu and look for D3D Over Rider. And enable V Sync for ALL and also enable triple buffering if you've got 512MB or higher Graphics Memory..

Gives a small performance boost and stops screen tearing once and for all..!!

Oh and the triple buffering in ATI CCC is for Open GL only, D3D over rider allows you to set triple buffering for D3D API as well..... I just can't think why this isn't included, its such a simple to apply tip, yet stops that aweful screen tearing and can help FPS a little..
