Yeah... steam doesn't suddenly start downloading things unless its been told to.

Someone else been using your computer? Or does someone else have an account on there and its continued the downloads?

Looks likes its downloading judging by the file size
Contact steam, also check your email to see if you have revived any receipts for the games you could be hacked

I never let Steam store my card details.

Hope your games folder got corrupted or something rather than someone hacking your account.

mine occasional decides it's going to re download company of heroes usually pausing it and telling it to verify the game files stops it.

Mine's been acting up too - although no where near as bad as the OP's

On Steam I've told it not to update Oblivion, and yet the pos does exactly that overriding one of my key mods on a heavily modded Oblivion setup.

It also repeatedly re-downloads a 'small' 2GB portion of Witcher 2 for no apparent reason even though the game has been already installed.

I do own the games, these ones are installed.

I set the hard reset demo to download before i went to work at lunchtime, came back to see it had melted my router with the amount of downloads as it had reset the router, and some games were downloading and some were updating. (auto updates are switched off)

No receipts or emails etc either.

Its not a hacked account like some people have mentioned. Which games are downloaded are machine specific, you can't start a download remotely from another client.

Sound more to me like games weren't uninstalled correctly/have become corrupt, then Steams gone to update and want to get the whole set of files.

This. I eventually just uninstalled the damn game as it must have tried to redownload it every other day.

Only ever CoH.

This happened to me the other day after I updated Steam. It's happened before when I've had hard drive issues too. Running CHKDSK sorted that crap out.

Just started a demo on download and go to the Downloads section, about 15 of my games in there :O

Thankfully they were all paused on 0 bytes dl'd hopefully a restart will sort it :p
