Hi all,

I'm picking up my new car in a couple of weeks and the first thing I want to do with it is remove the "FIESTA" badge from the back, but I've never done this before.

Has anyone got any tips? The car is silver on a 55 plate so will it be easy to do without it leaving an outline where the badge was? And how best is it to actually get the badges off?

Ta :)

My method probably wasn't perfect and I'm sure someone will be along to suggest a hair dryer or similar...

When I bought my 530i a few years ago the previous owner had stuck an ///M badge on the boot. I used dental floss to work behind the badge and ease it off, and then gave the area a light polish to remove the bit of gluey scum that was left behind.

Once you'd removed it, did you stick it on your profile? :D

Old credit card to slide behind and peel them off, sticky stuff remover and a bit of scratching with your fingernail and you'll be fine...the letters come off pretty easily, I debadged my ST almost immediately!

I sprayed on some tar/glue remover, left it for a few minutes to soak to loose the glue, then gently worked an old credit card under it to get the badge off. Tar remover and a good polish cleaned up the area it was on nicely.
As above, a hair dryer would also work to soften the glue, or you can use floss or similar instead of a card.

I just used a hairdryer on my focus badge, then just pulled the letters off the boot, most of the tape came with them, but the stuff was left behind I just heated up with the hairdryer again and it peeled off.

I used dental floss and then just had to get rid of a bit of residue and polish it as you could still see a bit of the outline.

I used an old credit card but first I boiled a full kettle and slowly poured it over the badges to soften the glue, then when the badges had gone I softened the glue a little more till it all came off.

Then I stuck some polish and wax over the top.

Do you reckon the car will be alright with the shade of paint? I assume there's a chance it may be ever so slightly faded around where the badge used to be, or should a quick polish bring that right out ?

Silver doesn't really fade, there was no difference in colour with my 11 year old silver car when I debadged, and barely a difference in my 10 year old red car - bit of polish brought it up easily though. The only thing you might find is a build up of dirt around the edges of the badge, bit of elbow grease and a polish will sort that out.
