Debating a monitor upgrade

Hey all.
I am really enjoying first person shooters these days.
I have an Acer 34" 3400x1440 75HZ Screen XR341CK, which cost me £600 in the spring of 2016.

My current setup typically pins games at 75FPS. I don't chase the latest games, so I am yet undecided on whether to upgrade my water-cooled 1080Ti, but that is a decision for another day.

Iiyama G-Master GB3466WQSU-B1 vs. GIGABYTE G34WQC-EK. Both are 34" and are probably the same panel.

I wondered which was best out the two? They could be the same panel.

I think you are right that they are the same panel, so many specs identical, particularly sizes and things like pixel pitch.

Gigabyte aren't known as a monitor manufacturer so most likely a rebrand of the iiyama. So I'd go with the cheapest.

And when you can get one, a 3080 will run that setup very nicely. Until then dial down a couple of settings to reach 100+ on the 1080ti.

I went from a 60hz 4k panel to a 120hz 4k panel, quite an upgrade when you play shooters. Set 75hz again after a month of using 144hz - to see if you'd go back to 75.

So in your view, it is worth buying a new screen simply for more hz?
The current screen is IPS but am I correct saying VA has come on a long way in recent years?

It is odd that the liyama is VA yet the flat version if the same screen is IPS.
