Hi, someone close to me has gone and got himself into a bit of bother debt wise.
He was looking for advice and would need a trusted company that would take his debt and then he pays a single payment each month.

I can not advice as its out of my league.

Just wondering if some of you might advice or point me/him in the direction of a trusted company that would take over his debt, or what ever way it works.

Thanks guys.

Tell him to check out the money saving expert forum, debt free wannabe section. Lots of people with a lot of experience of how to clear debts. Setup diaries etc to help have constant feedback etc.

From what I recall, consolidation is not the best option for everyone.

He needs to speak with PayPlan.

It’s a free service and they can even get an IVA negotiated for much larger debts if necessary.

I deal with customers that have significant debt quite regularly in my job.

Anyone who I referred to PayPlan has always come back to say thanks and sing their praises :)

Step Change are not in the same league unfortunately. Very hit and miss but better than no advice or help at all I guess.

Stepchange are pretty much up there at the top in the 'good advice' category...take this from someone who's been through bankruptcy and come out the other side.

Would also recommend payplan, friend has been using them and says they are good. Fixed monthly payment and they then distribute it out to the various creditors.

They are by no means bad but going from customer feedback over the years, PayPlan always seemed to be better regarded in general.

ahh thanks guys, I knew you wouldn't let me down, I'll pass on the advice to him, I wasn't told just how much he owes, it is less than £20,000 he said.

Thank you all so much for now guys, I feel better for him already, really do.

Even if he goes with payplan etc, consolidation, I would recommend checking out the debt free wannabe board. Lots of people in the same boat, and now out of the boat. Lots of good advice on how to change you life, readdress things, not end up in the same hole again etc.

Hi, guys, thanks again, he hasn't said direct but from what I can figure out, its about £15.000 just built up over a bit of time.

I will copy and paste this to him on an email.

What's IVA?

Thanks all so far.
