I had a call from a company yesterday called the "BCW group", they asked for me by my full name and asked me to confirm my address, I was a bit taken aback and asked them what they wanted my address for as I'd never heard of them, they said "It's a financial matter", while she was on the phone I google the company and noticed that it was a debt collection company. I asked the lady what it was regarding and she said that I had to confirm my address before she'd give me any details, I said "No, I've never heard of you, I know you're a debt collection agency and as I have no unpaid debts surely you can understand why I'm a bit dubious about giving my address out to a company I've never had dealings with", she then got her shirty voice on and said "Right, we'll send you a letter!" and put the phone down.

I got their number from their site and rang their head office who gave me a direct number to ring, the woman (different one) at the end of the phone asked me for my reference number (which I obviously didn't have) then asked me for my postcode instead, we went through every postcode I've ever lived at and she said she was unable to find any details about me, I asked her if she could find me by name, she said no, nor could she find me by my phone number as apparently they had "1000's of clients", I argued that I'm the only supposed "client" with this telephone number.

I'm a bit concerned as I know 100% that I have no outstanding debts, I even went to the trouble of paying for a credit report from experian and equifax just in case someone is running up debt in my name, nothing unusual showed up.

It's all very well her saying "we'll send you a letter" but clearly they don't have my address and if they can't find me despite me giving them every address I've ever lived at then I'm not sure what to do, anyone have any suggestions as I'm dying to know what it's about just in case it is some form of identity theft.
