Can anyone recommend a decent company that will offer a long term loan/solution to debt?

Ideally it would be something flexible that I could overpay when I can.

The amount is about £23,000 and my main concern is the monthly minimum payment at the moment allowing me to knock chunks off if need be.

Any advice on how to do this without adding it to a mortgage or ruining my good credit rating?

Cheers.

No worries mate, I'm after advice as much as anything, I'm not sold on one of these TV advertised loans but maybe someone on here has had a good experience with a particular company.

The problem being that I can't afford to end up with a bad credit rating, it's largely not my debt and I will soon be needing a new place to live therefore need to maintain my good track record.

...........must....resist...relationship thread :)

Also a but of advice (in hindsight for the OP but useful for others) - Do not take out any debt (loans, credit agreements, higher purchases et al) in your name if they are not for you.

That's not always an option, no matter how I feel about my wife, she is going to be looking after OUR children, I'd rather the **** landed on me than them, who caused the problem is irrelevant, she has no means to sort it out.

If the other party has no means to sort it out, shouldn't she just declare bankruptcy, saving you a packet.... This seems a bit OTT and while your approach is admirable, if it were me I'd not be so keen to load myself up with such a massive debt :(

I hear you, truth is it's a very sensitive situation because there are kids involved, now more than ever before I need to avoid conflicts or arguments for their sake.

I'm not keen on taking the debt but it's the only way to do this.
