Looking to go for a BMW saloon. I have a choice in my budget of a Decked out 3 Series out a more Basic 5 series. Im 6 Ft so fairly tall and I like my legroom in the front.

So what would you guys advise?

Also Petrol or Diesel?

You are a 6 foot tool? Thats quite an admission.

How many miles do you do, how big a budget, what cars are you referring to and why BMW?

10,000 a Year roughly. Budget roughly 40k.

Looking at the 3 and 5 Series Saloon Models. And BMW because i've always preferred them to Audi and Mercedes.

Not Diesel then.

For a little more than £40k, you would get a very nicely specced M sport 530. (I was speccing them up for fun last night lol)

Both cars are more than ample for 6foot people unless you are 6 foot wide, in wich case I would go for the SE models as they are easier to get in and out of being slightly higher off the ground.

You get slightly more leg room in the 5 series and there are more toys to play with, but its personal preference at the end of the day. Book some test drives and se which you prefer. I would avoid the "in between" engine sizes such as 2.2, 2.5 as they cost as much to run as the larger 3litre.

Im a bit biased, but I would look at something like this

Yeh, the model I was looking at first. The thing is when I play with the online builders I get carried away then I end up buying a more expensive car lol.

Was thinking of pushing the budget and getting an M3 or something, but I really don't want to spend more than 40k tbh.

Not down to me to lecture - if you're fortunate enough to have 40k for a car you can do whatever the hell you like with it lol

I thought the 5, even at "lower" specifications were still quite well kitted out

So you can drop 40k on a car, but spell like a 5 year old, have sleeping issues and are building your own DIY computer desk. Could be legit, but I call bs.

Yeh but I can get a kitted out top end 3 Series or a mid range 5 series. It's a question of room v performance and toys.

Also need to think ahead if I have kids, will that space make a difference then.

Well the reason I had sleeping problems and still suffer from them to some extent is the fact my Granddad passed away a few weeks ago , who was perhaps the most important male role-model in my life, which as it happens is how I came into money.

And I wanted to build a cheap DIY desk for 1. for a project to keep my self occupied, 2. No point spending more than I have to.

I'm dropping 40k on a Car since I am a single male for the foreseeable future and no dependants and I like to treat my self. If you wanna call BS, call what you want, just sounds like jealousy to me.

What a crap reason to blow money away.

If you inherited 40k from a late loved one, are you sure you want to spend it on a car which will be worth half that in a years time and even less by the time you're done with it?
