Hopefully this counts as a gaming peripheral, this was the closest matching forum.

I currently have one of these 200x60cm table tops from Ikea that costs £25. I'd like a slightly deeper table top like 200x80cm or 200x90cm but Ikea don't do that size and looking online, anything close is £400+ (quite a big jump from £25!). Anybody have any ideas on how I can source a table top of the desired size for a more reasonable price? Cheers

Ive recently changed my desktop from the same ikea £25 job that you had. I originally looked at a solid wood option but didn't like the price. In the end i went with a laminated kitchen countertop from Wickes. They do them in 900mm deep normally designed for a breakfast bar. The only downside to using a laminated top over a solid wood top is that the cut ends are more difficult to leave neat. They provide trim to match the top but its not easy to cut and get lined up etc. Places like worktop express also supply them and offer a cutting and trimming service too that might interest you more than having to cut and trim yourself. Their wooden 3mx900mm worktop is £155 https://www.worktop-express.co.uk/l...oHa5XfOXpjRn5cHRbeOBTW-CNkL2akIcaAo6ZEALw_wcB

If it were me, I'd just make one. 6x2 or 6x3 timber would probably cost about £7, with another £6 for some 3x2, all very high quality stuff from the local timber yard. You might even have a wood recycling place nearby, where you can find offcuts of some very fancy woods for not much money.
Plans are simple and you can knock up a bench-style desk with only a few basic tools.

If it's just the desktop itself you want, same idea as above but half the cost and just the work to edge-joint the wood, plane it, trim it to the exact size you want, put on any chamfers and the like that you fancy, then stain/seal it.

Last 4 desks (couple of hundred new) i've had have been from businesses wanting shot of them before they hit the skip, keep a watch on your local gumtree, freecycle and facebook groups. Literally just snagged some office chairs last week from a company up the road, £5 each for chairs £200+ new, did my back and bum a good favour.

More direct to your post though, look at kitchen counter tops (that's where my eyes and wallet lean when i'm not snagging free/cheap deals locally).
