Decent Backup Software?

I'm after backup software that can do the following :

• Scheduled Backups that will automatically occur later if the machine is off
• Incrimental backups that can be merged. Perhaps automatically?
• Event based backups, eg. when a specific hard drive is plugged in
• Encryption / Protection from Ransomware
• Full system drive backup

I'm currently using EaseUS Todo Backup Free. Which is fine-ish. I can upgrade to get password protected backups etc but I wanted to see what else is out there.

Looking for personal recommendations, £20 to £50 quid for the year seems reasonable. Not really after clpud based backup. All my pictures get backed up to my Amazon Drive.

Veeam Endpoint free can do the above.

For ransomware protection, I do the following..

Create a user on Nas just for backups, only define it in veeam.

Give your normal Nas user read only access.



Macrium Reflect if you want more options. I have a paid version of Macrium, it's very good.

I've used Macrium to clone a drive before (got a cut down free version with a new drive)

What functions would you say are worth paying for t? What made you choose it over Endpoint?

The reason I bought Macrium, they're a UK based company.

It has way more options.

If I was setting up a backup for someone else, I'd use Veeam Endpoint. Depends what you're after.

Macrium do a trial version.

I also would recommend Macrium. The reason I bought it is because its got a great feature called intelligent sector copy. This means I can create a clone of a drive and take it offsite. If, for example I have five drives off-site, when one comes back instead of doing a full clone and copying the whole 4TBs, it will only copy the changed sectors relevant to that drive
