decent CD labeling tool ?

I use CD Label Print, it came with my printer, canon ip5000, can fault it, it has printed the lables great, but that is straight onto the cd though.

What you need is a lightscribe drive. I don't know how I labeled CD's before I got one, well thats a bit of a fib it was actually with a pen but you what I mean.

Lightscribe is the way forward ( if you have time to let it burn)

Printable CDs and a photo printer kick the crap out of LightScribe.

On the same sort of topic, does anyone know where I can get Photoshop templates for the iP5200 CD tray?

I'd say they're a complete waste of time.

2 minutes max to prepare my CD with Canon's software, maybe another couple to print it out.

Why waste time with slow, monochrome techniques, when you can have the full decent thing in the same time it takes to make 2 cups of tea? ;)

Printing them may be a lot faster and in colour, but the problem is you have to buy ink for your printer and then the labels ontop (unless it prints direct on to CD) Im not sure about anyone else here but ive got 3 printers lying around with no ink in them.

Just recieved my lightscribe writer today (LiteOn 16H somethin) Id love to say its great, but i havnt got any lightscribe disks :p

I'm not sure if you've ever used a printer before. But, regardless of what you're printing onto, you will always have to buy ink for your printer.

when I'm printing on discs directly I use epson printcd, very easy to use and customise. Here's an example of what the interface is like:

The point i was trying to make was you dont need ink for a lightscribe label. :)

LS labels are crap though, not decent quality at all and takes an age to use compared to direct printing.

No - you just need around 30 minutes, for a monochrome image.

Time well spent, eh?

You just need to buy expensive discs. Printable CD-Rs rarely cost more than the non-printables.
