I feel bloody DRAWN to macbooks. But the price.. and the 4gb RAM just seems limited, plus the upgrade is £££££££££££.

I want to 'invest' in a laptop, that is to say i don't want to go down to currys and buy a £300-£400 laptop with a shed load of bloatware on it.

I want to comfortably use photoshop and after effects on said laptop, everything else (web browsing, word etc etc) is standard.

I don't want any of these touch screen laptops, better to spend money on hardware such as RAM and a reasonable SSD.

I'm also not a fan of W8 but i understand It's come leaps and bounds since release?

Lol lots of 'I wants' :o

Being really fussy but I want something to last me at least 4 years.

The SonY Vaio T looks tasty..

edit: Just how to Apple get their battery life so far ahead the competition? !

They put a bigger battery in by making it non-removable. So after 2 years when the battery goes bad you have to pay loads to change it without voiding your warranty.

Best alternatives in my book if you are looking for an ultrabook style laptop are probably the asus zenbook and the aspire s7. just make sure you get an ssd.

Really though it comes down to the OS. do you want OSx or Windows. It is by far the biggest thing to consider.

edit: i assume you don't want gaming? (as you are considering the macbook)

Ahhh i see! Yea I had a look at the zenbook, bit pricey isn' it?

I'll take a look at the aspire s7.

As for the OS, i've been brought up on windows but used OSx during college, no real biggy, just don't like the look of W8 :p

Nah gaming isn't much a priority, maybe a bit of football manager here and there :)
