I know I could just go through the freeware thread, but I don't have the time at the moment to go through the whole list of video editing software listed there and I thought that posting would get a select list that actually suits my requirements.
I've stated a little project which (obviously) requires shooting a quite a bit of video and of course I now need some software to edit said videos.
All it need to be able to do is allow me to add one or more videos into a project, edit them, add any transitions to make it look less like a bodge job and be able to allow other additions to a project like adding extra audio recordings on the fly (I'm not sure how good the audio quality is on the mic on the camcorder I purchased is so I might have to record audio again if the source is crap) and output a final file.
It also has to be able to be able to run on a crappy laptop (at least until I get my slightly better desktop back in the game with its new hardware and operating system) even if it takes an hour plus to render a twenty minute video.
