I don't really have room for steering wheel and pedals so can anyone recommend a decent [pref USB] gamepad for driving games?

Can any of the pads kicking around compete with the PS2 controller when playing, say, Gran Turismo, as I know this is the sort of level of quality I'm after on the PC?

Thanks for any help on this.

no. so get a ps2 pad plus usb adapter.
I never knew that was possible and Google tells me that they also support force feedback too.

Makes sense to me, cheers.

You can also use a Xbox 360 wired joypad on the PC, plugs straight into a USB port and windows installs the drivers. I use one for Trackmania and it's excellent :)

The Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 looks and feels just like the PS2 pad. I use it for games such as Pro Evo and Need For Speed Most Wanted and it works a treat.

I have a PS2 USB adapter but can't use it, cos it messes up all my games. Like in a racing game if I crash the force feedback will get stuck and I have to unplug the controller to get the game to work again.

Love my 360 (wired) pad. Trouble is I just can't get the XBCD drivers working properly, they never recognise the pad & therefore I can't adjust the deadzone on the stick.

they can take some fiddling to get working if you've already had the ms drivers installed. you can do it manually buy updating the driver in the device manager and pointing it to the xbcd drivers. If you need help im on msn:)

I want an N64 pad to use on the PC I don't know why, just think it would be cool :p
I know what you mean, they are great. As for which controller to buy, I think the weight of this thread leans towards XBOX360 controller so that's the one for me. Thanks.

Yeah i had that problem at first but needed to use USbView to find the ID of the pad connected to the USB port then XBCD worked a treat.

And thanks for the info on how to get XBCD working properly too folks, I'll have a pop tonight.
