So can you buy decent 12VHPWR adapter cables, like the ones you get with some 4000 series cards?

I see lots of the cables for specific PSUs but are there any that you can just plug 6/8-pin PCIe cables into?
I see Akasa do one and it's a right-angle one, which seems like a good idea, except it looks like it would be impossible to remove as you wouldn't be able to reach the release tab.

What if your PSU doesn't have a specific cable? Because that's absolutely a thing (I have 2 of them).

That would've been my first choice, but it's not an option. The other option is to spend £150 on a new PSU.

I had the same. Ordered a B Grade 4070, which was supposed to be an 8-pin, but what they sent was a 4070 Ti which needed a 16-pin and they didn't include the adaptor. Hence why I was looking for one.
Did consider getting a new PSU that included one.

Ended up sending it back because I realised the 4070 Ti they sent was a little bigger than the 4070 I ordered and thus wouldn't fit.

So wait you could've got a free upgrade? :p which '4070' was it :D

I'm going to send mine back too I think, I assume they didn't offer a partial refund to buy a cable etc or anything?
Yeah, was tempting to keep the 4070 Ti, but would've needed an adaptor cable or new PSU and even then it wouldn't fit in the case.
I didn't ask about a partial refund or anything as that wouldn't help the "not fitting" issue.

Someone that has one of these cables handy, would you be able to fit it into a card and route the cables if there was 3cm or less gap between the edge of the card and the side of the case?

@scubes what about those ones you've bought?

The thought crossed my mind that long term I probably plan to put the GPU in my SFF case, which unsurprisingly has limited space. That's using a Corsair SF450 Gold PSU, which from, what I can tell also doesn't have a specific 12VHPWR for it.
