Decent GPU upgrade to play Borderlands 4??

A friend of mine loves Borderlands but his current GPU (RTX 2600) is not good enough so he's looking at swapping it out and has been recommended the RTX 9060XT as a good option - circa £340

His CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600x and he has a 650w gold PSU and games at 1080p.

Does this sound like a reasonable upgrade or is there a better path he can take?

Thanks...

I would wait until the game is released and the proper launch patches and drivers are released. The CPU might be worth an upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D but that is EOL and stock is fast disappearing.

GPU benchmarks aren't out yet so wait and see on that side but a CPU upgrade to a 5700X3D seems worthwhile as his CPU is above minimum requirements but below recommended.

Technically not, the recommended is a 5800X but depending on how much the game cares about L3 the 5700X3D should be the faster CPU.

Either way it's probably worth waiting on benchmarks, but with the budget the OP has the only card worth considering is the 9060 16GB if buying new anyway.

I'd be tempted to bite the bullet and then source a cheap 5600 (under £100) or try to find a 5700X3D that doesn't take the proverbial price wise.
