Hi,

I'm in the middle of deciding to get a laptop or if possible a new desktop. I'm using a 5-6 year old desktop with 1gb of ram and a 2 6600gt cards running in SLI, but it's all slowing down, and I need something else.

I don't play any advanced games on here, but I do use a lot of art programs such as photoshop/Flash etc.

I was thinking of spending about £450-£500 on a laptop, but if I go that route i'll have to wait some more months till I got the cash, but if it's possible to get a decent laptop for £300 I might do that instead.

Soo (long winded start, sorry) is it possible to get a decent desktop for my needs for £300? (ish) ? and would that be a ready built system of me putting it together? wouldn't have to be vista, XP would be fine.

thanks for any advice.

Build your self option, you could download Windows 7 and use that for a few months and save buying operating system.

I would suspect the laptop would be OEM operating system, which is tied to the board it was originaly installed / activated on.
