Decent music player

Hey guys

I've been getting increasingly annoyed with Winamp recently, so much so that it's drove me to try out some other players.

So if anyone has any recommendations, please let me hear them!

What do you dislike about Winamp? Perhaps people can suggest other players based on that?

Other than winamp there is foobar as has been mentioned. Music Match Jukebox is another one, it isn't free though, and I think its become very bloated. There is also Songbird, I dislike it at the moment although I very much like the idea of the player and its features - going to wait to see if they upgrade the performance on it a bit.

Windows Media Player 10/11 is all you need tbh.

There are better options, all depends on what you want to do with it tbh. I much prefer the listing by folder using foobar rather than listing by tag with wmp

winamp lite, with a good stucture to your music folders

ie..

x:\music\artist\(year) album name\artist - tracknumber - song name.mp3

Windows media player 11, all the music players sound the same so I don't see why it makes a difference which one you use, unless you use the library or something but that just makes playing music 10x more difficult than it needs to be.

WMP takes up so much memory,and takes an age to load, winamp with a classic skin loads super quick, and is very inobtrusive

Costs a bit, yes but nothing else I've found has a library function as good as this, support for BDA TV tuners, DVD playing & more!

It only takes up 29Mb and loads up in about 1 second on a properly configured pc, cpu usage averages at 1%.

winamp loads faster than my start menu shows up, and thets set to a 20ms delay

this is on my mum's dell pc too, why waste the space / resources and time for taking to open files

The loading is negligible anyway, as for space, well winamp uses more becuase you already have wmp installed.
