Decent PC Racing Game?

GTR Evo if you want a simulation and have wheel/pedals. Lots of real world cars/tracks and plenty of mods.
For an arcade racer using a control pad then any of those already mentioned.

If you're looking for an arcade racer, NFS Most Wanted was excellent. It's a few years old now, but the graphics do hold up surprisingly well, and from what I gather it's a much better game than the more recent Carbon and Undercover.

as a sim racer imho there are only 3 sims out there at the moment, lfs, nkpro and iracing.

iracing is a cracking sim but is a sim you can never own!
by paying a hefty subscription each month just to play (cost more the more cars you want) you get the chance
to race in a sim that is always being updated. it is a good sim but the online community is slightly lacking.

nkpro (net kar pro) has just been updated, and for all purposes is the most realistic sim out there. the ffb is second
to none. but this game is in it infancy and has still along way to go to be the complete game that the other two are.

lfs (live for speed) is the oldest of the 3 and as such is the more complete sim.
it has a wide fanbase, meaning that when ever you want to race there will be a server out there for you. ok the ffb
is not as good as others but its the most well balanced out of the 3.

GRiD
rFactor
GTR Evolution
Burnout Paradise

DiRT

these pretty much cover all aspects from Sim to Arcade fun and if you have a G25 the above games get even better !!

also, NFS Shift looks like its got the makings of a cracking game..

iRacing - Great sim
GTR Evolution - Good graphics and good feel for the cars.
GRID - Looks very pretty, doesn't stack up so much in the driving stakes
rFactor - Graphics outdated, good feel and excellent modding comunity for differrent tracks and cars.
Grand Prix 4 - Still a great game if you like your Formula 1.
Toca Race Driver 3 - Fun to play but showing it's age against the likes of Grid.

Not played LFS but hear i's good.

I'd say GRID, think its a great game really! Can treat it quite like an arcade game, turn all the help and assists on and have loads of flashbacks, or can turn them all down and it becomes a pretty hard racer... not the best sim, but still pretty good.

Somebody mentioned burnout paradise... good game and very impressive, but just didnt keep my attention at all, lacked any proper depth and just felt like I was doing the same races over and over

For me its GTR2 with the ESR superGT mod that we are currently using in our league, also have an FF mod file that transforms the G25 into something really special.
Iracing is good, but I still went back to GTR2 which has so many mods its as up to date as it needs to be.

Heh, 4 secs, and the rest:)

seriously though, you're not worried about graphics, grandprix legends, a must just to experience how cruel it can be.

Aside from the Iracing sub, nascar 2003 and it's ton of road racing mods is also a good call, online a full field of cars on an oval is great, but there's plenty of road and track you can download for it, if thats not you're thing.

Grids great too, i bought it for the ps3, better played with a pad in my eyes, easy pick up and play multiplayer.. it's worth anyones time at the cheap price you can pick it up for now, dirt the same 6 quid retail in the supermarket.

And there's rfactor, not allways my favourite, but lots like it, the bmw m3 mod is a highlight for me.

Yeah Nascar 2003 is great fun online, can jump straight into Daytona / Talledega and be competitive. Just don't cause the "big one" or you will banned pretty quick.

GRID, ive had it since day one, never played a game so much, just wish they would sort out the cheating, patch 1.3 is long overdue, they announced it about 8 month ago !

TDU
Trackmania
Sega Rally Revo

some of the better racer games.

Grid was ok but lacking in some areas.

Toca games used to be fun duno how they are now.

I thought grid was the new toca game?

I play gtr, rfactor and have played LFS but I just really enjoy GRID. You don't spin out and die just because you clip the apex too much. It is arcadey but can still be pretty hard tooo!
