I have the GA-K8N-SLI motherboard, slowly adding things to it (have RAM, heatsink, hard drives on the way etc) - and wondered if there was anything in particular that suited this motherboard best?

Looking to spend around £100 - it'll be teamed up with 512MB DDR400 to start off with, a X800 possibly, and on the front of the box it has the usual AMD64 logos, Athlon X2, Athlon FX etc.

Also, would putting a 1.3Ghz Duron in it work fine? Or is it too old for it?

The motherbaord is based around Socket 939 which is completely different to Socket A (which your Duron is). The pin layout, physical size and heatsink attachment are completely different so there's no way it could fit

For £100 get an Opteron 144 and clock it. At stock, it'll perform like an A64 3200+
