Decent quality good price sofas?

My landlord has given me in the region of £1500-£2000 to go buy two new sofas and a few bits and pieces to tart up our aging living room. Being a rank amateur in home furnishings my immediate thought was Ikea, but perhaps I could find better stuff else where.

I'd like to avoid DFS, I'm not sure why they just seem like they could be really poor quality from the experience of others I know.

Where is a good place to find comfy, modern, good quality sofas without breaking the above budget?

Landlord is looking for 10 years wear too...

Ikea sofas instore always seem worn out to ****. The big sheds are filled with awful designs

John lewis have nice ones, but too expensive for the budget, same case for Next - unless you pick up one of the ex-display ones when they're clearing out (or visit a Next outlet). Really like the Next ones - have 2 10yr old ones still going strong. M&S are alright designs, but I've heard mixed reports on longevity.

So to conclude..... can't really help, sorry. We're in the market at the moment, too (corner sofa, though), and not found anything in the right slot.

Our Ikea sofa has been surprisingly good. Wasnt too expensive either.

You gotta remember how many people probably sit on them when in store. FAR more traffic than DFS etc.

another vote for ikea
We bought a couple 2 years ago, planning to keep for 2 years after we moved house, still going very strong and with removable covers quick wizz in the washer and they look great (cat sleeping on them being the reason they want a wash)

You can also buy extra covers (for some not sure if all) so can have a spare set/different look if you want

I got a sofology sofa, but on the refurbished/end of line. Seems pretty good quality but still relatively expensive (think it was circa £1200 rather than £2000). Very comfortable sofa, but seems to sag in the corner more than elsewhere (only noticeable when sat on).

I dont rate ikea quality, had one and the colours bleached out in the sun. Relatively comfortable tho. Other than that seems pretty sturdy too.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Made.com was a great shout @Too Tall thanks for that. We've found a near perfect design sofa so going to head to their Soho showroom on Thursday to try and find one to sit on.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of any of the IKEA designs right now, I like minimal furniture but it's a bit too minimal now! Will take a look at next, M&S, sofology etc over the next few days.

Appreciated!

Furniture village had always been a solid choice in this sort of budget.

Another vote for this. We recently did a big shop around with sofa.com, sofology, sofa workshop etc and ended up settling on one from furniture village.

I blame the free warm cookies... Also bought a glass table on the way out too!
