Anybody know if or when?
The one provided at the moment is more effective for on foot as opposed to in car.

No as of yet. It's not really san nav that is provided, just an interactive map. I managed to use it pretty well as a passenger, giving driving instructions to my dad though.

The latest developer build of iPhone OS 2.1 apparently includes some code for delivering turn-by-turn instructions. Also, there have been rumours of Tom Tom developing an app. Wait and see I think.

I'd imagine that this is something Apple may work on themselves as well (perhaps licencing maps from a 3rd party or working in conjunction with a current satnav manufacturer)

whats the point in having gps if you cant have turn by turn? ( ok there are valid uses, but turn bby turn is what people think about when the say GPS )

That daft EULA and it's rules is backfiring on them and I can see it hampering future development if this continues. Right now there are only a handful of decent stuff on the appstore, most of it is garbage.

I would be suprised if it didn't change. I imagine apple are working on their own sat nav, hence with it is in the EULA.
