Hi everyone, so this question is pretty easy but I can't find anything. Does anyone know what the best budget server/NAS case would be (Preferably with hotswappable drive bays) as I can't find anything within my budget (I don't mind used etc). Also this for the motherboard in the TS140 so it's MATX. :)

So any recommendations would be excellent :D

A bit over budget but my home server lives in a Fractal Design R4.

8x quick release drive bays, well sound deadened and fairly non-descript looking with the front door shut

Hmm, I suppose it will be of decent build quality however now that you mention Fractal I wonder about the Define Mini as I could do with the case being small due to where it will be placed.

Thank you for the suggestion though :D

Any tower with 3 5 1/4" drive slots can carry a Rosewill 4in3 or Norco 5in3 hotswap drive system; I used to run a 12 bay storage server from 9 5 1/4" slots in an old Antec case... Worked fine for the consumer hardware I was using!

Fractal Node 804 would be a slightly more pricey option, it's not hot swap either but for a home server case it's gorgeous!
Seems to be a pattern with Fractal cases for servers :)
I have actually looked at the Node 804 before for the server but I needed it to carry a 5.25" bay for a DVD drive which is ashame as it really is nice and compact :(

I've also had a look at these before as it was part of the motivation for a new case as the current case (By Lenovo) has 2 bays but a stupid piece of plastic that prevents me fitting devices like those :(

Again, thanks for the recommendations :)

I've used the CFI A7879 to make a couple of tiny servers. It has four hot-swap bays plus room for a 2.5" system drive if required. Current price is £65.10 from a competitor but Google is your friend....
You would need a mITX mobo though.

Rosewill RSV-L4412 - 4U Rackmount Server Case has the 12 bays 'built' in and is about 625mm long and 420mm high; longer than a standard case but can take eatx size motherboards. Cheap and versatile in my opinion... But not that attractive; the ears can be removed too if you don't have a rack cabinet.

Looks like a good case but unfortunatley my motherboard is MATX :(

That's a very nice case and looks to have many upgrade paths for the future but unfortunatley I can't find it :D
