The Abit I90HD Fatality mobo in my HTPC recently died (POST memory failure). I've no real need for anything faster than the E6600 that's already in there so I want to just get a replacement Socket 775 microATX mobo.

Unfortunately, it seems that decent ones aren't available any more. I was looking for something with a P45 chipset, maybe an Asus Maximus II Gene. Sadly, no longer available.

Even the G45 chipset seems unavailable these days, the only thing I can find is a G41 which has a piddling 2 RAM slots and ICH7. Now I didn't really need 8GB RAM in a HTPC but it annoys me greatly that I'm effectively downgrading.

Anyone know of a decent mATX socket 775 mobo that's still available? Anyone for a Maximum II Gene spare?

I know how you feel but you hit the nail on the head. You really don't need 8Gb in an HTPC.

Just buy a G41 board and pay for it by selling 4Gb of RAM. Winner.

Got this board fitted to my system 2 weeks ago,it will take 8gb of ddr2 or 4gb of ddr3,read somewhere that a bios update will enable you to use 8gb of ddr3 but havent tried this yet, havent tried overclocking it as i want it to last me for the next 8 weeks to I upgrade to 1155!
