Decent Star Wars RTS?

Quickly tried SW: EAW and i thought it was terrible.

Anything else?

Force Commander is good, only negatives are the slightly annoying camera and overpowered infantry. Instead of resource management you use troops to capture buildings for "command points" (this is explained further in the tutorial). Graphics are acceptable for its time. Oh, and unlike EAW you can use aircraft with platforms on the ground.

The story is decent, has several original characters and ties in with the films\expanded universe nicely.

Galactic battlegrounds is decent, though it will look very dated now.

There's also an EAW-style one with better options from 1995, "Rebellion" (known as Supremacy in some regions) but you'll be hard pressed to find a copy now. It probably won't work with Windows XP\Vista\7 anyway.

star wars supremacy, insanely in depth but difficult to get into and damn hard to win.

The cutscenes were pretty spiffy too for the time. The Coruscant invasion one was cool

Try HARD MULTIPLIED BY A MILLION.

Used to play that game via modem dialup with a mate.. I sucked.. still dont really understand the game, its BRUTAL but fun and rewarding.

Better than being overly simplistic like EAW though.

Indeed, I long for a return to games which truely make you sit there, scratching your balls going "WHAT THE ****".

If you want hard, try Independence War.

First game with realistic physics in space, and missions that were unpredictable at best

I enjoyed the FoC expansion for EAW. There are some decent mods for EAW which gives additional factions, units and troop sizes. It was the space epic battles that made the game for me.

Jedi Knight II is still the best SW game

Aside from KOTOR. Neither are RTS though~

Battlestar Galactice Mod

FoC expansion for EAW with the Battlestar Galactica Mod - still play it often.

I really hope they update it with a sequel.

large galaxy, hardest difficulty, 4 months of my time.

The relief it was finally over was incrediable. It works on XP, haven't tried it on vista though. Im afraid I might try and play it again, and end up consuming all my summer.
