Decent Twitch Based FPS?

My favourite game genre is twitch fps, games like unreal tournament and quake.

I am sadly lacking something like this to play at the moment and also can't think of anything like this to play.

Could I get some reccomendations for a decent twitch fps? I have played a great deal of these games but it might help to suggest some classics I might have forgotten.

I have shootmania but its kinda dead, its a decent game though.

It's about time a new unreal tournament came out.
After all, there is a new unreal engine.

Edit: Nexuiz is twitch style fps? Not sure it's that popular though.

Edit 2: Just did some searching, apparently a PS4 version of Unreal Tournament was listed on an online store then quickly removed, it had a release date in 2015

Have you ever played Warsow? It use to be awesome, I've not played it in ages though. You should check it out either way though, it's free!

i used to love RTCW: Enemy territory, does that count as a twitch FPS game?

Quake live is probably the most active game that you may like. I don't think Shootmania every really took off?

I still regularly play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. It is heavily focused on aim, tactics and gamesense, along with an active competitive scene. I much prefer it rather than brainless rushing around with helicopters/tanks like cod and battlefield.

Quake Live is going to become a standalone game soon, so there will probably be a few updates for that and a spike in community growth, so you should look out for that.

Doesn't get much better than Quake Live. I recently tried to find another twitch based shooter but ended up going back to Quake.

Still regularly play UT2K4, which is still somewhat active if you play TAM gametype.
Although if you're just starting out, it will be a very steep learning curve.

Another vote for Quake Live. Been playing sinse the beta but don't actually think I've gotten any better...

Weird that I always end up playing the free games/mods more than any paid for games.

TFC for yeaars since release (gogo Wireplay TFCL!), then Fortress Forever since release (such unlucky timing coming out a few days before TF2), now QL since beta.

I also just stick to UT2k4!

Although it's pretty much just Rankin and Torlan demo servers, or TAM which I never really go in to

UT3 was balls
