Hi, i have had a good browse through most topics on here, but cannot find what im after as of yet, so imhoping someone could help me out.

Im going into Film Production at Uni next year, and i make a lot of my own films at home. I never actually used my own camera though, it was always a friends.

Now im after my own really. I am fairly competant with the camera, and have won a Film Festival for a Documentary i made on underage drinking.

But i have no clue on the Video Camera scene itself, and im after something which would last me a while through Uni. It needs to be sturdy and good with outdoor filming.

Budget of around £300 im guessing. Thanks in advance :)

This probably isnt going to be entirely useful to you, but i would have thought the Uni would supply you with anything you'd need? On a Film Production course i'm sure they'd expect you to use their cameras (XL2's and other nice shiny ones i'd hope). I don't know anything about the video camera 'scene' either, but i'm almost positive you can't buy that kind of quality for £300.

£300 is pretty much going to get you a little hand held DV camera. I would imagine if you are using it for Education or more professional needs then you would need a better bit of kit.

but maybe something along the lines of a SONY DCR-HC46 MiniDV camcorder or a CANON MVX460 MiniDV. both similar cameras pretty small though, depends what you are looking for really.

Yes i understood the Uni would supply cameras, but the camera i would be buying here would be for person use, for literally when bored to try new inspiration out on etc.

It was more for recreational/personal use than actual Uni work. But which i could still use to show mini projects or quick things.

Sorry i should have been more precise with my wording :)

Mini DV or Hard recording, im open for both. Just i really have no idea :)
