Hi

So after a while since my last post about an upgrade I have finally decided to take out my pocket money and upgrade to what's latest.

Here's my current setup:
Case: be quiet! Black Silent Base 802 Tempered Glass PC Gaming Case
Mobo: Gigabyte Z590 UD AC ATX
CPU: Intel 8 Core i7 11700KF Rocket Lake
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Drk Rck PRO 4 Cooler
GPU: EVGA Geforce RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra Gaming (08G-P5-3767-KL) LHR
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-28800C16 3600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Power supplies: 850W be quiet! Straight Pwr 11
SSD1: 1TB WD SSD Black SN750 M.2 PCI
SSD2: Samsung 980 1TB PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.

Not looking to upgrade every component but only GPU, CPU, Mobo & RAM, please see below link to my basket, any suggestions? I wasn't sure about CPU if I can get anything similar for less money, mainly using PC for Warzone and GTA RP. Same with CPU cooler, I can replace if there is anything worth buying. Budget for all around 2000 pounds.

The easiest solution would be a AMD 7800X3D and either a 7900XT or 7900XTX.

Warzone likes 3D cache, and heavily favours AMD GPU's.

GTA will run extremely well on the above also.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,444.92 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Tbh I'd be tempted to start with just the GPU upgrade and see how you get on.

I'm assuming you have a decent 1440P + high refresh monitor.

ROG SWIFT PG279QE as main monitor, it's a 165mhz one. I was tempted to stay with Intel as always been for the last 10+ years. I know I could just replace GPU and see how it goes but I'm always open for new technology ever 3-4 years so I don't really mind :d

would my cooler be ok for the AMD cpu? I can't remember if it comes with plates for both tbh

It should be okay if you still have the kit it came with, there should have been an AM4 bracket.

Failing that, look up the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120SE for around £30, it should out perform your current HSF and it's cheap enough.

We've had a lot of people come through here that have seriously noticed the difference in lows with Warzone when making a move to AMD's 3DX chips, even that aside the 7800X3D is pretty much the best gaming CPU on the market at the moment. You also have the added benefit of AM5 being supported until 2027-2028 or so if I remember right, so next big upgrade you'll be able to swap the CPU for good uplift without the faff of a platform change.

If you're playing at 1440p I'd just get a 4080 Super or 7900 XTX, which are near double what you have, then revaluate the CPU upgrade once Arrow Lake releases in October.

7900XTX for cod. I’ve got a 7800X3D and a 7900XTX and get 220-260 FPS on warzone with max settings at 1440p.

Mate of mine gets similar on his 4090 which was double the price at the time.
