Howdy,

After a discussion on a previous thread I have decided to upgrade my stock VGA cooler on my BFG 7800GTX OC 256 with a Zalman VF700-CU Quiet Copper VGA Cooler.

I'm gonna order this in a bit, but I want to order it with a CPU cooler as I think the stock AMD one is a bit noisy. So what CPU cooler would you recommend for my AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ - Socket 939?

I'm not a heavy gamer, I simply use windows for everyday stuff... so the main priority of the cooler is for it to be quiet... but hopefully keep it a bit cooler than the stock AMD jobbie?

Any help appreicated!

thanks

If you're looking for air, then I highely recommend the Thermalright XP 120 or if your mobo doesn't support it, the XP 120s other SI 120. Coupled with a very quiet but fast 120mm fan it really does deliver.

The Zalman CPU coolers are effective and quiet. I've got the CNPS7000B-AlCu LED and it's been excellent, looks very cool throug hthe side window too. The 7700s are bigger (120mm fan), but theyre are non-LED versions of the 7000 too. The AlCu one is probably the better bet - you sacrifice a degree or two but it's cheaper and lighter than the Cu versions.

IMO you should check out the Thermaltake big typhoon and the Scythe Ninja aswell as the thermalright jobbies.

If your not going to be overworking your CPU then you will can get away with running the scythe cooler without a fan... although it costs an arm an a leg.
