Finally decided to go for it and upgrade me old machine.
Current spec is:
Akasa Eclipse
400w PaxPower
Gigabyte GA-7n400 e-l
Barton 2500+ XP
Leadtek 6800nu
gig of Geil value
120gb Spinpoint - pata
80gb Seagate - pata
Old SB Live 5.1
Imagequest Q17+
Saitek Eclipse
Mx518
JBL Creature II speakers
Right, going to be keeping the case and screen, keyboard, mouse and speakers etc..
Been offered an Asus A8N-SLi SE nForce4 SLi for £50 (board has barely been used, has a dodgy chipset fan but that can be easily sorted)
Thinking about sticking in a 3700 SD and a Leadtek 7800 GT
HDD's will do me fine, will eventually go for 2gb ram but for now 1 will do..
The PSU should be up to the job, has proved rock solid so far.
I'd like to keep this as cheap as possible but get myself a good gaming setup.
Does this lot sound ok or are there any changes people would recommend ?
