I've had my LG monitor for almost 4 years now I think, maybe more? It was my first ultra wide and I was extremely impressed. However it did suffer from some backlight bleed around the edges - a return and repair by LG cured it slightly - and it was only 60hz so I guess it's a bit behind in terms of what is on offer these days.

For a couple of months now I've been looking into replacing it. Being a 1080 Ti owner, G Sync was top of my priorities as well as > 100hz. I wouldn't have minded HDR but it looks as that is some way off and the price is looking likely to be 4 figures.

The X34P wasn't really on my radar until the price drop to £799. Drunkenly I ordered it last weekend but I then cancelled it as I wasn't to look into how much my current monitor is worth. @dessimpson text me the other day saying that someone on here was looking for an ultra wide and before I knew it I'd ordered the Acer (again) and agreed a sale for the LG.

I ordered it at 6pm last night and it arrived just after 9am - very happy with that. The box is huge! Much bigger than the LG box. My mrs answered the door to the DPD man and struggled to get it in the house!

Next to the LG. It's bigger and heavier. It feels much better put together and the interconnects on the back are much simpler to work with. There's half a cm on either side where the screen doesn't reach the side which is odd when looking at it, but you don't notice this when it's on.

Finally on the desk.

First impressions are good. The colours are much more natural than the LG. The menu system is also much, much better. I immediately overclocked it to 120hz without issue and then changed the refresh rate in the Nvidia CP Even on the desktop things are much smoother.

I've only really played The Witcher 3 so far, but it looks a lot smoother, no tearing, lag, skipped frames etc. I fired up Titanfall 2 for a bit and that was extremely smooth, very impressed so far. Oh - no backlight bleed either which is a welcome addition!

I'm not blown away by the upgrade, but I am very glad I went for it.

Trust me to spell the title wrong!

Not so far, it's good, very good, but V Sync does a good job.

I guess it will show more in fast action games - my brief stint in TF2 was very smooth, hard to describe really.

I'm an FPS-player and sim racer so the type of gaming I do is fast paced which is why I'm intrigued by G-Sync. Screen tearing is just awful :(

I've had my Dell U2713HM for almost 5 years and it's been good, but I never fell in love with it for a few reasons which why I want something new. The X34P is now out of stock which gives me a bit more time to mull it over. It'll interesting to read more of your thoughts once you've had it for a few weeks.

It's in stock at a competitor, so I'm afraid I cannot post a link.

I hadn't associated Acer with being a decent brand, but I'm impressed with the build quality and the way it looks.
