Any other thoughts?

Good choice of HDD but wouldnt it be worth getting Vista Basic instead of XP Home?

For future proofing and of course better security for your pc then Vista Basic would be far better.

With XP Home, to start with it will take you ages just downloading the updates and then of course Microsoft is phasing the selling of XP out by Q2 of next year and then support will not exist anymore come 2010.

Edit: Plus its the same price as XP Home :)

Sorry i did not mention it has media centre +Create high definition movies
with Windows Movie Maker in High Definition worth 8pounds in my book.

Thats all fine. That will be a big upgrade over your old rig.

Only query is why get the Asus GeForce 8600 GT 256MB @ £91.64.
It may have DX10 support but it will run DX10 games at like 1-2 FPS.
So its really a DX9 card like the ATI card below.
When you can get the much better OcUK ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail @ £72.84 inc VAT.

Edit. Yep, im using XP still as well. Dont see any reason to change to Vista.
