Hey guys i'm looking to pick up a 1080 once the stock seems to stabilize and wondering on which brand I should go with. I hear there isn't really much difference between them as they are all the same PCB with factory overclocks.

I have been looking at the Palit Super Jetstream but I have never owned a card from them so was hoping to find out if anyone recommends them or which brands you recommend.

As said so long as it fits, you cant beat the Pailit. They arguably built the best 980ti card you could buy as well.

In round ups they are the quietest and coolest 1080s you can buy.

Yes they are as ugly as sin (the jetstream are much better looking than the gamerock though - same cooler)

And so far, the Pailts seem to be some of the best performing overclocking wise (probably due to their superior cooling)

Downside is 2 year warranty and shipping it back to Hong Kong if it goes wrong.

I do like the Palit but the 2.5 slot does worry me as most of my PCI slots are currently occupied. I do like the MSI gaming x card but the red accent would not fit the colour scheme I am aiming for (white/black/silver). I wish the Armor colours were on the other models.

Any up front saving is not worth having to risk going through an RMA procedure like that IMO...avoid.

Well, you wouldn't need to send it back to Hong Kong yourself. You'd send it to OcUK who'd then forward it on for you. No different from most other manufacturers really, and you're not guaranteed any quicker a turnaround time no matter where the service centre is. EVGA and MSI are the only ones I can think of who don't mind dealing directly with the customer.

i dont get it, if you are spending 600£ on a card, wouldn't it better to spend extra 50-100£ to get top of the line custom card ? rather than settle for the cheapest one ?

Because £100 is £100. Its as fast, quiet and cool as the the £750 MSI card. Is £150 acceptable should you ever need to send it back, which 99% of people will never have to do?

there are a few things to consider, not just performance, although it does seem that some cards have issues with higher clocks. I haven't read anything good about Gigabyte Premiere one for example. If anything the experience is not premiere!

Consider the warranty, stock availability, cooling options, noise etc. For me the winner was the warranty and higher factory clocks so went with Zotac Amp Extreme.

I wouldn't let the price be the only factor in this decision, especially since you are paying a premium for such a card.

Price doesn't always equal quality. I'd much rather have the £590 Palit card than the £750 Asus one. People pay a premium for Asus cards, but their coolers are mediocre by any metric you care to mention and their RMA process is one of the worst around (although OcUK have a special agreement in place with them to improve it). You're paying for literally nothing other than the name on the box.

the Palit and Gainward are top of the range custom board cards with superior cooling.

You are not settling on a HAF with a reference board and a cheap leaf blower.

Google Palit 980ti Super Jetstream review and see just how highly rated that card was and one of the top performing 980ti you could buy.

Just cause they arent the big names with the big prices. I came to the conclusion a long time ago, £30 to £50 of what you pay for an Asus card is for the name Asus and nothing more.
