Deciding on a case: Corsair 4000D or 5000D - Airflow or Non Airflow?

Hello,

I just wanted to ask if anyone out there has or had the Corsair 4000D series case and then decided that they should have gone for the larger 5000D and also opted for the Airflow case version instead of the tinted front.

Originally I was attracted by the 4000D X because of the tinted front and the nice looking RGB fans, but then I thought that if I was running the latest AMD card for example, that the extra airflow would be much more beneficial for overall cooling and performance of the hardware inside?

I know I could do RGB fans on the D series airflow, but from an aesthetic standpoint it doesn't look as polished as the tinted front on the standalone D model.

I'm thinking the 5000D Airflow case would be the sensible option and unless I was doing water cooling or something like that, not to get too hung up about RGB at this point and just focus on the hardware and making sure it's all running as cool as a cucumber sort of thing? :p

The good thing about the 4000 and 5000 series is that at least the front and top panels aren’t too expensive and can be ordered from Corsair, no problem. The 7000 series is much more expensive.
A lot of people are happy with the 4000 and some say the side intake of the 5000 can actually mess up the airflow.
Particularly I never tried the 4000. Used the 5000 in two opportunities. Also the 7000. The 5000 is great. Even the solid panel version performs well because the gap on the side of the panels don’t hurt performance as would be expected for a solid panel.
The 5000 can accommodate a 360 AIO at the top, but the Arctic would interfere with the motherboard. All regular thickness AIOs should be fine. You have the option of side or front mounting it, anyway.
The 5000 can fit even the NH-D15, and depending on the heigh of your RAM, even using the second fan.

That's the general feeling I'm getting with the 5000D, just that little bit more space really helps some peoples builds apparently. Also, with that side panel for extra fan expansion too sounds like a good idea just in case. :p

I did think about getting the tinted front separately as well. See how it goes when it's all done.
