Hi,

I am looking to purchase a new / up to date graphics card in the next two months. I haven't got much of a clue about them tbh. Need help.

Budget: £300-£350
New Maxwell architecture / model newish
Nvidia - I need cuda support for my old version of Adobe CS5.5. No AMD.

I want to get into PC gaming and my first dip into this will be GTA V in January.

I want to be able to handle this on maxed settings. I want to handle games for the next three years at decent settings. Same or better than ps4 / Xbone

I don't play fps or online and 1080p most likely would be decent enough for me (I think) but I do want the best bang for my buck.

Is there any graphics card on the horizon I should wait for early next year?

I'm toying with an Evga 970. I think 980s are out of my budget.

Are these good? Evga seems to fit my case specs and I have heard they run quite cool.

I'm running 16gb ram, GB z87 OC, i5 at 4.4ghz oc

Any black Friday deals likely to exist for newish cards on overclockers?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi James

If you do decide on the EVGA GTX970 card, ensure you register the product with us and get your free extended warranty to 5 years:

the GTX970 is a fantastic card and our new ACX 2.0 Cooler will allow very cool efficient running.

If you need any further advise do not hesitate to contact me.

Your specifications lead you to 970 vs 780ti.

780ti is cheap right now, but older. I think you may find CUDA performance is better? Not 100% on that one.

I'd probably go 970 myself. I'd also probably just get the cheapest 970 and save yourself some money, rather than going to 350 and getting the same card with a different cooler. You could have a cheap 970, an NXZT Kraken G10, and a 240mm CLC water cooler for the £350 you've specified.

Yep need cuda support.

Cheers for the suggestion.

Is it simply a case that any 970 would chew through demanding games? Obviously some will have better cooling than others, then again i'm limited by size of card too.

Need to find my case dimensions. Think its a Lian-Li PC60 case

Hi Kaapstad

Please follow the link and just fill out the instructions, it should be pretty simple. You will need the serial number of the product and ideally a copy of your purchase invoice.

Thanks all done.:)

Up and running and all working well.:)

What is the consensus on Evga 970, I have come across numerous articles about design fault / cooling issues relating to this?

What would be the best 970 or 980 card I could get in a black friday deal with max budget of £400 (ideally less), decent card and not a massive sized card / cooler.

I feel like i'm going to / have missed a decent deal today as I'm not sure exactly what i want. not clued up about gfx cards at all

Any manufactures or models to avoid?

Cheers guys.
