Decision Time

The GTX260-216 is the better card, having just looked at a number of benchmarks, but, honestly, the difference seems to be minimal at best at stock speeds. However, I'd go with the GTX260 considering the model you're eyeing up has been slightly overclocked (though most are these days), but having not owned either of the two cards to compare, I can't give you any firsthand opinions/experiences.

that is a 216 core ;) they don't make the older onces no more *edit ignore that I didn't read quoted properly :P *

last time I checked these two cards head to head the GTX260 like lower than HD res and the HD4870 1GB like being HD and beyond, the differences between them is well very small, particularly with the introduction of the 216core

so it depends on your personal perfence really, oh and the HD4870 1GB is cheaper depending which you get
