I'm needing to upgrade my 4690k.

I had had my heart set on a 13600k, but I know I can get hold of a 12600k for £120 less.

Given that i've got to buy a new mobo/RAM etc, the saving vs performance suggests for what I do, the 12600k is a better option.

I'll be pairing with a 3060TI which I can't afford to upgrade just yet. I literally just play F1 2021, Warzone and CS2. I'd like to play Starfield at somepoint too. This is just a gaming toy.

Deal ends today, so answers on a postcard.

Wait a week for the 14th gen to launch and see where prices move.
i'm worried they won't enough to make the 13 still seem like the better option. A 12600 for sub £200 seems like too much of a bargain to miss which is why i'm in such a quandry. I'm spending more on DDR5 to semi-future proof for when the 14 series eventually come down.

13600's have already crept back up and the launch price of the 14's seem pretty premium

Get it, it'll be fine for the games you play and the 3060 Ti. Check the price of the 12700 too, since from what I've seen the deal applies to both.

There are some cheaper boards now, just FYI. You could get one of the discounted Z690 boards, or go B760 (and lose overclocking).

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £257.93 (includes delivery: £7.99)

sooooo... i went a bit silly.

13700k dropped to £320 and I couldn't resist. 30 day no quibble refund so i'll hold fire from building for a couple of weeks and see if they crash further.

Thanks for all the help.

Launch prices for 14 series look strong. 13600k has dropped to £306. At the moment, the 13700k looks to have been a good buy at £320
