Decision's decision's 7950 or 6950?

Tough one, depends what res you're going to play at and what games you're planning on playing. Skyrim just runs crap full stop no matter what you throw at it... could be worth seeing if you can pick upa 2nd hand 6970 from someone and bide your time until Kepler comes out, as this will shake everything up... if you've got cash 7950 is the one for now as it overclocks nicely to past 7970 speeds... it's a tough time at moment, hence why I sacked it off and picked up another 6990 on the cheap... need to see what comes out later in the year.

Surely your q6600 bottlenecks that quad fire setup?

Any 6950 flashables still around?

I bought a sapphire dual fan 6950 a few weeks back and flicking the BIOS switch unlocked the shaders automatically, just had to match clocks with the 6970 then. It's not guaranteed though but sapphire cards have some of the highest success rates.

+1 Second hand 580GTX 1.5gb

Would cost you around £250, so £100 cheaper than a 7950 3gb card so well within budget.

Hi guy's thanks for all the reply's.

Quick update and few benchmarks from the card I ended up getting.

sorry if this is against forum rules and should be somewhere else or something i'm very new here which is also why i couldn't see the members market area for some of the great sales that it sounds like i missed out on. :( as i said earlier i would have gone with a 570/80 or something but the newer architecture etc pulled me closer to the ati, maybe i should have waited yes but i'll see what happens in a month before i start regretting anything
i was wary of getting a single fan version but as i'm not really a big overclocker i thought i should be ok.

unigine heaven 2.5

I've done hardly no overclocking except upping GPU threshold from 810 to 880MHz in AMD Overdrive as I noticed that's what some cards where set to on the OC store.
First score at 840MHz in Unigine was 1486 later and after that little boost I got the 1565 score above.

A few in game benchmarks with FRAPS,
all game settings totally Maxed out and res @1600x1200

AMD Autodrive set to:
GPU 880MHz
Mem 1250MHz
Temps:
Idle 50C
Max 71C

Battlefield 3:
Min, Max, Avg
33, 93, 54.081

Crysis 2:
Min, Max, Avg
34, 87, 53.396

GTA4:
Ultra settings
Min, Max, Avg
12, 53, 26.210

Auto Configure Settings
Min, Max, Avg
23, 56, 47.397

Metro2033:
Min, Max, Avg
8, 84, 60.766

Batman:
Min, Max, Avg
29, 309, 184.385

Skyrim: (Heavily modded inc' ENB Series which killed my 5770 and above Ultra settings using SkyConfig)
Min, Max, Avg
3, 65, 45.567

I'm impressed with the card so far. Besides numbers and looking at in game real world playing, all the above games are now a different experience from my 5770, especially Skyrim now allowing me to go above Ultra settings.

It's also very quiet thankfully.

Can anyone recommend any good gpu monitoring tools? I use a Windows widget and CCC but there not very good. Also are the 11.12 drivers the only ones available for the 7950's at the moment?

Also is it possible to get a decent 120Hz monitor for under £200? Also maybe one able to do ATI's 3d?

Thanks again for all the help guys.
