i will eventually be upgrading it all over the next 6 months anyway but what should i start with do you think ?

i game at 1280X1024 and my primary games are supreme commander and the expansion forged alliance. i will be playing crysis soon and spore when its released.

To be honest there really is not any good value for money upgrades you could do.

Only real option is to pick up a graphics card you would move over to your new rig. :)

hi, yeah I was wondering this myself, I think I'll wait to see what geforce 9 benchmarks are like, hopefully they'll be top gfx dog for a while, until a decent cpu/mobo/ram upgrade comes along. good things come to those who wait etc :)

Got nearly an identical setup and have just bought a Samsung 500GB HDD and an 8800GT. Been playing Crysis Demo, Lost Planet , COD4, MOH Airborne, Company of Heroes. All (apart from Crysis) maxed out at 1280x1024 res and they play absolutely fine.

I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago and don't regret buing the 8800GT one bit, does everything I need and can see it lasting me a good 12+ months gaming at 1280x1024 on my Samsung 930BF.
Gonna run my S939 rig into the ground!!

What I am doing.

4400 Toledo, 2gb of ram and a pair of 7800 GTs.

Not used the rig for almost 6 months though. :(
