Hi all,

First off, hello to everyone as this is my first post here!!

Have been reading through the forums for a while now and finally have a dilema to put across to you all.

Currently I have a Nvidia 6800 LE with AMD64 3200 and Asus K8V E Deluxe.

I want to upgrade my graphics card as I'm struggling with F.E.A.R and COD2 on DX9. I have seen the 7800GS AGP card but for £280 I thought I may as well upgrade to a new mobo. But I really can't be done with the hassle of changing processor's etc...

So basically what do you think is better.

Option 1 - Get the £280 7800GS from Gain OR

Option 2 - Get an Asus K8N4-E Deluxe which has PCI-E and also socket 754 and invest in a 7800GT PCI-E card.

I hate it when I have to upgrade

Welcome to the forums.

Bit of a tough one that as they are the same cards, bar one is AGP, as the Gainward 7800 GS is actually a 7800 GT, but they are not allowed to call it that because of Nvidia, but if it were me id go the PCI-E route now if i was considering it with the new mobo, and the 7800 GT PCI-E, plus theres the fact that you can get the same card in PCI-E form, and a PCI-E motherboard for the same price, or less than the same card in AGP form.

The best option would be to get a new mobo and pci-e gfx card.

That way at least you are not stuck in the agp quagmire and can have an open upgrade path.

Makes sense considering that you have better options and it cost's you less money but have exactly the same performance.

I would look at getting a 7900 GT though if you can, not much more in financial terms but a much quicker card.

Why not just get the normal 7800GS. Much cheaper than the Gainward one and would still be a decent upgrade from your LE.
