Hey, I'm new to overclockers and am just looking for abit of advice on Bikes.

I have a YBR 125 Custom, which I've ridden from new since about March/April, but with the area I live in, it sickens me every sunday to see hundreds of bikers zip past on their bikes that can do more than 40 mph ;).

I'm only 18 and wouldn't be earning a lot of wonga. A few people have mentioned getting something like a zzr 600 and getting it restricted, or even a cbr 600.

Any advice? :)

My advice would be try a bike forum like bikechat and be a little more specific with your requirments. Include your budget and what licence you hold along with anything else you think might be relevant. Good luck

Get a 33hp bike you'll have it for a long time and the temptation to derestrict it is massive, also you'll get funny looks when you can't gun it because its restricted and the p/w ratio will be rubbish and the bike will be guttless, coming from a 33hp restricted Bandit 600 owner

DRZ 400 with very minor restriction ?

I'm in the same position as you but I've done my test, one answer. SV650.

Cheap to insure, V Twin engine retains most of its torque (and most of its acceleration) with its restriction. Perfect 33bhp bike.

600 hornet with restriction. when you derestrict it will feel like a more powerful bike (which it will be) except you'll be used to the weight and feel of it.
also with something like a hornet as it's unfaired you don't do much damage it you drop it (which you will). with a bike with a fairing it would a) cost you loads to sort it and b)might mean you can't ride it without some bits damaged.
also being a honda 600 they are bullet proof motors as the hornet isn't the latest version of the cbr so won't have issues if any. suzuki 600s seem to have fragile engines and yams have fragile gearboxes. kwaks are good 600s but they don't endure poor weather as well.

i should be a spokesman for honda. lol. :D

seriously though - trust your eyes and gut instinct. if it doesn't seem right or feel right it isn'ti i adore hondas (as you've guessed lol) but have raced gsxr 600s/1000s and the cbr is still going strong and hasn't had to have a bolt replaced due to finish quality in 6 years!!!:)
