I'm getting a dell 2407 monitor and along with my new spec will be a 8800gts 640mb but im concerned that running at full res will put too much of a strain on my graphics card and may have a shorter life span, should i get a 8800gtx to play it safe or will i be ok with an 8800gts?

Does that sound like its going to be ok at native res on the dell and not straining the gfx too much?

that is gonna own! only thing I would say is change the HDD to either a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 or a Samsung SpinPoint, not sure about the Memory but OCZ stuff is usually very good. I take it you will be clocking, if so, that thing will be a beast :D

You should be fine with that, I have that screen and a 7900 GT Extreme Ed. which works just fine.
