Decided im most likely going to try to order a Mac once ive sorted the funding.

The original idea was to get a Mac Mini so that i was able to keep my HP DV2000 and the Asus Eee, and not have a third laptop, but im now thinking about replacing this HP laptop, and making this the new 'family' computer.

If i was to replace the HP Laptop, it would be out of the Macbook and the standard Macbook Pro laptops, with a few customizations, 250gb hdd, remote etc.

So, do i;

1 - Spend £777.85 on the Macbook Middle Spec which is 2.4ghz, 2gb ram, 250gb hdd, and all the usual odds n sods, along with the Remote.

2 - Spend £1,143.28 on the base spec Macbook Pro with 250gb hdd, and the remote.

3 - buy an iMac (2nd spec) for £905.93 which is 2.4ghz, 2gb ram, 320gb hdd, 2600 pro, wireless keyboard/mouse.

They are the most appealing options, along with the Mac Mini, however i feel for the money i may aswell spend a bit extra and get a bit more oomph.

I cant decide between the Macbook or the Macbook Pro.

Pros of Macbook;

Small
Lightweight
Cheaper
Similar (apart from 8600GT) in specs
Comes in White

Cons of Macbook;

Lack of 8600GT

Thats all i can think of with the Macbook

Pros of MBP;

Powerful
8600GT
1440 x 900 resolution

Cons of MBP;

Expensive
Gets very hot

Again all i can think of for both.

The iMac has really only one con really, need the space to put it, rather than the laptop can be easily replaced.

So yeah, what would you guys do if it were you?

Im somewhat swaying to the Macbook for some reason, because its smaller and cheaper, but thats partly because the Macbook Pro gets very hot and i dont really want to toast my valuables in all honesty :p.

Help :D:D.

Main question is; do you need the graphics card in the Pro? If not, get the MacBook.

If you DO need the graphics card, it's a toss up between the Pro and the iMac. Second question being; do you need a laptop? The answer picks whether to go for the MBP or the iMac.

It doesnt really matter either way.

If i was to get a laptop, my HP Laptop would become the family PC.

The 8600GT would be nice, as im limited to gaming, as not having any PC's anymore (apart from a 550mhz).

The laptop would be the best option to replace this Laptop.

The iMac would only be used by me, so no-one else would really need to use it.

Oh and i cant decide between Desktop or Laptop :D.

I would go for the iMac as is the best value for money, maybe even get a few upgrades with it :)

That is something im thinking of, as its a very nice looking bit of kit, but i would only need the 20" version as the 24" is far too big.

Whats the screen itself like, quality wise?

Yep, for general use, the iMac seems to be the best choice here
-value for money
-decentish graphics
-bigger screen than other options
-bigger hard drive
-cheaper than MBP
-The iMac is actually fairly slim being an all-in-one so dont worry too much about space.
Thats the main advantages of it to be honest.

Although, i will need to replace this HP Laptop at some point though!

I've only seen them in the purple shirt store, but they seem awesome. I would definitely go for 24in however if you can. So much more space.

Yeah, saw the 24" in the same place, and it'd most likely end up in my room, not really got the space for a 23" LCD and a 24" iMac to be honest!

I'll take another venture into that store and check 'em out again though.

It possible to have a poll with these options by any chance any dons come in here.

iMac - 20"
iMac - 24"
Macbook
Macbook Pro

Thanks :).

I'd get the base Macbook and buy the upgrades yourself and for the money you save, put it towards a 19" TFT :)

Got a 23" LCD TV.

Think ill wait to see the iMac upgrade, but depending how many more faults this HP Laptop gets, could see a MBP or something for my bithday maybe (June).

Next order is an iPhone :D.
