just rung up insurance company (Elephant) to find price of declared mods which consist of K&N57i induction kit and a Daytona Exhaust

Total price 81.39, ive got 6 months left on insurance

how much extra it cost you guys/gals to declare ya mods.

£50 to declare my *breathes in*

boost controller, decat, exhaust, alloys, WRC spats and skirts, intake filter, late spec lights that covers me for a power increase up to 300hp ;)

Insurance is generally a joke. It's not only related to mods, I rang up with 1 week left on my insurance, I wanted to take the named driver off the policy, leaving only myself, and change the address where the vehicle is kept. They wanted £170. For one week!

I havent a clue to be honest as I dont know how much the company would charge without all the mods but I get charged £411 FC for these mods declared on my 200Sx s14a

Apexi Filter, Mongoose Full System Exhaust, Greddy Profec B spec II, Hybrid FMIC, RPS Max Street Organic Clutch Kit, Fidanza Light Weight Flywheel
Nismo 555 injectors, Horsham Dev Stage 3a Chip, B&M Short Shifter, Varley Red Top Racing Battery, D2 Racing Coilovers, Cusco OS Front Strut Brace
Apex OS Rear Strut Brace, JIC Adjustable Upper Arms, Whiteline Front and Rear ARBs, Denso Iridium IK24 Plugs, Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump, Apex 310mm Brake Kit, Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses, Ferrodo DS2500 Front Pads, Porterfield Rear Pads, Buddy Club P1 Racing Wheels 17x8" +et 22 Fronts
17x9" +et 27 Rears, Polished Stainless Steel Coil Pack Cover, Clear front and side indicators, Braided Turbo Water and Oil Lines, Apex Dump Pipe, Garrett GT2871R Turbo, Tomei Expreme Exhaust Manifold, Forge Recirculating Valve Kit, Nismo GT Pro LSD, Z32 AFM.

Thing is, you're always going to get shafted if you declare mods or change car mid policy - especially if you are young. They know that they have you over a barrel for no claims qualification and price it accordingly. For the last two months of my policy when I got the VTI, I had to pay £150 a month.

This would equate to £1800 a year. The renewal quote the cheeky ******* gave me after the two months was £600. Told them to stuff it and now pay £450 FC, protected no claims and all mods declared like for like.

carbs
2.8i struts and brakes
koni rear shocks

mines £513 FC all mods declared

alloys, coilovers, polybushes, pillowball tension rods, trd rollbars, decat downpipe, exhaust, induction box, uprated intercooler, boost controller, boost gauge, dials, steering wheel...the list goes on

19 on my 172 with 2yr ncb cost me £105 to add a Magnex cat-back, ITG panel filter, Greenstuff pads all round, Brembo high carbon discs, Goodridge braided lines and eibach proline springs.

Total for the year you don't want to know, 19 + GRP16 = ££££££££ :(. Worth it though :D.

I feel sorry for Will Gill's insurers, he has to fax them 2 or 3 A4 pages with modifications :p

with modifications (especially extensive ones like will gills P1) the only way is to go through a company that specialises in them

most mainstream insurers use this as an excuse to quote you so high that you dont deal with them.

if they dont want your business, dont give it them, go to a specialist who does.

Can insure a 400 hp cossie for £750 ish. (I know, cos I've researched!) My current car is about £600 fully declared, think the only standard stuff are seats and bodyshell.

I've got so many mods listed my schedule now states "other unspecified modifications" so I've got to the point where I no longer need to even tell them about further ones :D
