when i'm down the gym doing these sometimes i get a specific aching right at the base of my lower back.

what could cause this?

its not a sharp pain or anything, and I try and keep form while doing 5 sets of 20 reps with the bench on max decline..

Could i be hurting my back, or is it just that the lower back muscles are weak?

You guys have got to be kidding with these threads.

In case you're not...

SIT UPS ARE TERRIBLE

DECLINE SIT UPS ARE EVEN WORSE

DOING ANY KIND OF TWISTING MOTION WITH YOUR BACK I NOT A GOOD IDEA.

**** the bed...

Do planks or ab roll outs and compound movements such as the Squat and the Deadlift.

what the hell?

Whats wrong with Scott Herman? I thought his vids were great?

instead of calling somone a troll, why dont you tell me what is wrong with the abs excersise i posted?

Ive used this machine and it certainly helps, and gives me great soreness the next day which is a feeling i love and leads me to believe i had a good work out....

cant see what the problem is? (someone tell me?)

Nope, Scott Herman is just a moron.

You've been given some information, its up to you if you want to listen or not. There is lots of information in the exercise guide thread should you choose to read it.

Also, "soreness" is absolutely not an indication that something "certainly helps".

How is he a moron?

Hes built really well and seems to know his stuff? Are you suggesting that you are built better and are fitter than him?

Also there are two other youtubers I have watched. Yo Elliot! and Mike Chang I think.

Both of these guys seem to know what they are talking about.

The only two people who I would recommend blindly as people to watch on YouTube are Kelly Starret and Eric Cressey.

Being built well doesn't mean you know anything at all. Hell, look at Stoodles ;) :)

Have you seen Ice?

Get into the training logs! ;)

Ok ok ok .. let me have a look at these training logs then.

Just one more thing. If I dont wanna do planks, what about that thing where you do a raise on some bars that stick out, and you bring your knees up to your chest?

Is that any good?

I dont like to be stationary, I like to move, hence why I like the non plank excersises.

Well I'm stronger than him by every possible measurement, and I'm also bigger than him. Not that either of those things are particularly impressive.

Seeming to know what you're talking about is significantly easier than actually knowing what you're talking about.

Don't know Mike Chang, Elliott is less of a moron than lots but is still frequently wrong.

I like Elliot. For some reason my boy hates him though, each time he comes on my youtube he's like "Not that Elliot, he's stupid" :D

OK fellas.

THanks for the input.

If someone could be so kind though as to tell me whats wrong with the ab crunch machine i would be interested...

Seems to tick all teh boxes.. doesnt hurt spine, neck etc, and you can ramp up the weight...

What am I missing?

This is by far the most important point. Unfortunately, people are easily lead by image.

I thought he was cool until I started to learn about the nuts and bolts of everything. He really isn't that bad, but he's far from perfect.

Your son is a wise man :D

You're thinking it's good based on some misguided assumptions. In fact, you don't even know why you're training your abs.

Read the links I posted about core training in the exercise guide thread.
