Decode a old Rover Radio code?

Hi, posting for someone else here. He just bought a old but decent Rover 200 1999, has the standard tape/radio in. He is gonna get that swapped out maybe next week for a cd or mp3 player but until then needs the radio on.

He needs the 4 digit code for it, was given one from car seller but it aint working and seller has no idea.

Is there any services preferably free who can decode or give him the code?

When my 94 Rover 400 had this problem I paid some guy on ebay a tenner to unlock it. I had to take the radio out, give him the serial number and then he got back to me with the code.

Probably not worth it for a week

nah thats what i thought, seen a few online services all wanting money too but like you say, not worth it for a week or so.

Never found a free one myself. I did look for a while. Gave up in the end.

Join a rover forum, there may be some-one willing to do it.

Someone on eBay will be able to provide this. I payed a few pounds for the code when i had a mondeo.

There are a couple of sticky threads over on moneysavingexpert's motoring forum for free radio codes. You might get lucky - someone helped me with a ford code within minutes.
