I ran an 8800GT as a physx card before I passed it on to my nephew, ran fine, so a 260 would do nicely, I should think.

I can't remeber who told me on here but having a second card for physics often offers no advantage and sometimes can actually lower your FPS. There is an article on the web somewhere that proves this.

I used to have a GTX 580 and a GTS 450 for physics. I took out the 450 and let the the 580 do the physics as well. Games play just as fast.

It will be slower.

I hate to tell you this mate, but dedicated Physx card = marketing rubbish.

The Physx PPU seems to react to what it is attached to and how fast that GPU is that it is attached to. IE - running a GTX 470 with a 260 as the stand alone Physx card actually hindered performance.

It's a ruse. I mean, like we really need Physx in the first place?

Yet, there are Nvidia telling us that not only do we need it but we also need an extra GPU to run it on.

The 680 will obliterate Physx. The big problem isn't if you need another card, but the ridiculously low amount of games that use it.

So even if the second card did help it's just wasted heat and electricity for 23.5 hours a day.

How many games use phsyx these days 4, 5 a year? And how many of those games are worth playing? iI would consoder running it of your main video card i doubt having a dedicated will help.

I asked the question too. Wanted to put a GTX 560 ti as physics controler. Was advised to use my MSI GTX 580 to run everything. BF3 runs great at max settings with the 580 oc'ed to 925 core.
