Following on from my screen thread I wasn't too happy with it and really wanted bigger scope movies so I asked the wife and she said yes!

Going to be keeping the same projector for now which is the Optoma HD141X.
I'll be going for a 98" Scope screen for CIH projection using the shrink method for 16:9 giving me a 77" image.
I'll be going with Grey Steel 1 Black Widow mix for the screen.
I've ordered some Klipsch In-wall speaker for the front soundstage, not decided which to go for the rears

I'll be building a false wall to house the speakers at the front of the room.
Repainting the walls dark grey (black for the front wall) and going for a dark grey carpet.

I'll keep you guys posted with updates.

Made a start after some planning and trying to maximise on the screen size and making sure that the sound would be as good as it could be.

Did all this after work this evening.

Going to have a slight recess where the screen is going as this will allow me to use masking without the masking standing proud of the wall.

Started the bottom of the flat part of the wall to get the height

Rotated the studs on their side to give the recessed screen area.

Most of the woodwork done, I'd ran out of timber as I bought it prior to adding the sloping base so i'll be off first thing in the morning to get some more.

One of the L/R speakers. Rather big, bigger than I thought they would be, 8" Woofer's in these Klipsch speakers.

Colour choosing, I think I might just go Grey Steel 1 for 3 walls and the screen and then the front wall surrounding the screen would be painted black.

That's all for now

Rest of the frame built up

Moved the socket off the back wall to the new false wall.

Charging my batteries on the newly installed socket.

Tomorrow i've got plans to get the projector mounted on the ceiling power ran to the projector location from a near-by socket.

I decided to go for the Grey Steel 1 colour for the 3 walls, I've also decided to paint the ceiling the same colour!!. Still going with black for the front wall. I plan to get at least the first coat of paint on the rest of the walls if the skim isn't dry.

I also need to build up the framework for the maskings and get them wrapped in material to be installed once everything is done.

3.7m x 2.5m and the screen is on the shorter wall.

The slope was needed as the speakers are too low for normal chair height listening.

I would have needed to spend loads on an Acoustic Transparent screen to have them at the correct height.

I made an early start this morning, most of the plaster had dried bar the joins and the beads.

Cut the first speaker hole

I love that I know where all the joists / noggins are and power in this house, Makes modifications very easy,

Pulling power for the PJ

Here we have some Grey Steel 1 Dulux going on.

Walls were brush cut in and roller'd and the screen area was sprayed.

Splash from the roller with this dark paint was a nightmare, had to tape off the skirting to stop splashing. Cutting in was done by hand.

Image to show how flat the screen area is.

16234876409_08527f920e_b.jpg

Started with the black painting with the top part first.

16234554467_c3c08917c6_b.jpg

Excuse the cutting in, not my best work but cutting in black on dark grey is rather difficult.

Trying to inspect more of my wiring, Had to get her down twice with some treats after disappearing beneath the insulation

Painting finished and speakers installed ready to be hooked up amp end at a later date.

Grills placed on to stop any wondering claws! (These will be sprayed black at a later date)

In place - this actually fit without any screws so just added 1 screw and then covered this with a square of flock.

Happy with the screen and I might actually keep the grills white as it makes the speakers stand out.

Just need to source a carpet, some seating (no idea what to get) and some rear ceiling speakers.

Pic of my tiny sub. Need a longer black cable

16259574097_8ce63975cc_b.jpg

Waiting on my carpet being fitted next week and should have my seating by the end of the month.

Grills on looking rather smart

Carpet fitters came and went in the space of about 15 mins, they were VERY impressed with the setup.

Only thing missing now is the seating.

The picture quality and sound is amazing i'm really happy with it. The ceiling speakers i went with being Klipsch also, have pivoting bass driver and tweeter so it gives you a directed sound which is a great improvement over the other ceiling speakers i have in the house.

Nice. Are you going to put in any acoustic treatment for the bare walls/corners etc?

I plan on seeing how the room sounds once the sofa is in there as i've went for fabric which might solve the acoustic issue.

If not then yes i'll be building some panels up with some acoustic foam. The deep carpet has helped a lot with the sound though.

Looks great.

Are you just handy with stuff or are you a joiner by trade or something?

I picked up the skills when i renovated my house, my father used to be in the trade so learnt a lot and built up from there.

I'm going to wrap the full front wall with flock when i get round to ordering some hence the bad cutting in on the skirting!

Okay so i got my hands on a semi decent camera and took some screen captures.

Oblivion - Re-watched today and has an amazing sound track and image quality is fantastic throughout.

Woah, looks great! Do you have a detached house?

Semi detached and this is on the part wall. This is the reason I filled the back with insulation to dull the sound a bit.

Looks epic, but will you be finishing the wall? Looks like you've left an inch above the skirting?

The wall will be papered with flock eventually just waiting to get some ordered to get that done. The black paint is a nightmare and I would suggest anyone thinking about it use something like blackboard paint instead.

Kudos StevenG, a good read and certainly has made us all quite jealous.
Something I would love to do one day, once i move to a larger house.

Where do you have all your AV equipment however? are they by the projector?
Congratulations once again!

It's all currently located in a cupboard in a different room and distributed throughout the house from there.

I'm debating on moving my HTPC into the room for blu-ray playback but its not a major issue to walk the 10 steps it takes to put a disk in the machine.
